Big Changes To Come... Again. Again. Again.

Hey guys, back from my hiatus at long last and, as promised, I said I'd return with another new idea on how to bring the site back to life from the little crypt that we just seem to mozy along at. And this is something I have been thinking for long and hard, while studying yet again more popular sites. Well, monkey see and monkey do, I got a plan.


Basically said, sometime within what I hope this month, I'll be shutting down the site for a temporary amount of time. Don't worry, it isn't going to be deleted or anything and we will still be on the same address. It's just that I will have a shit load of work to get cracking on. Wanna know what the are?

Well, let's just say I'll be resetting the site back to the beginning in some ways. For example, all post counts will return back to 0 for everybody. Money will also be set back to 0. I may even delete a lot of the inactive accounts at long last (like some of you were complaining) and so on and so forth.

Now, you may complain about money and posts being reset to zero, but you're not the only one who will go through this. I will be doing the same to my profile. But I am doing this because I plan on being back the Store system. And if we'll be getting new members, I want everybody to have to work for what they want to buy again. I'm doing it just to be fair, so please understand.

The next thing you may wonder is what of the new members? I've got a plan for that as well. We're going to give advertising another shot. However, we're going to ramp it up with this... prizes for every member you manage to recruit. For you guys, it will be a piece of cake! I'll make a pre-made advertisement where all you have to do is fill out your name in a certain spot, copy, then paste it on another forum. And the more you advertise, the more members that could come to our site and join up. We'll then just have them fill out a simple little questionair when they sign on who it was that recruited them. If they say your name, you will get a prize for every member you recruit! And if you hit certain milestone points, you'll be rewarded with an extra special prize! Makes advertising a little more worthwhile.

Exactly what the prizes will be or how the system will be made easier is in progress. But feel free to imply your ideas.

Also, when the site goes down, I'll be leaving myself as the sole staff for a short amount of time. Looking at how many members we have, one staff can easily handle this lot of well behaved members. Really, the worst you guys ever seem to do is post silly topics that should be in the Chit-Chat Board in the General Board. You guys are pretty low attention needy, which can be both good and bad.

Just one. What ever happened to the PBR tournament? And I'm fine with all the changes.

I would bet that half the people who signed up aren't even here anymore. A tournament like that is something that should be done when we actually have members to do it with. So, sadly, I canceled it (obviously).

Fair enough. So we have, like, 1,467 members, and four active members?

Yeah, roughly give it or that. So that is exactly why advertising is going to be so increadibly important. We may also shift our perspectives over a bit to focusing a little more on role playing and actually get a system laid out instead of this "just throw it there and see how it goes" deal like we did last time. Prizes for recruiting could be RP items, like rare candies and Pokémon. Sometimes maybe an in-game promotional or something.

Well, the role-play rewards wouldn't work for people who don't like role-playing, like me. I would advertise anyway, but other people might not.

And that's what the rewards are for. Say, just for a hypothetical example, we did a normal trainer RP. If you hit a total of 5 new recruits, we would reward you with a Zorua. And there was no other way to get it, or it would just be exceedingly rare and much further in the story. Or when you hit 30 members, you get the Azura Flute thing so you can have a chance to capture and Arceus. People may bite if they come for the role playing.

Sorry, I meant that people who don't role-play would have no use for the rewards.

I know what you meant. But what we will be getting is people who want the RP rewards, looking for people who could be interested in the RPs. And they in turn may want the rewards for themselves, so they join in.

Proper advertising, of course. But I'll try to figure something out for non-RPers as well.

Ah, I see what you were saying. I'd advertise regardless, if just for bragging rights. Giving money out is always an option.

Yeah, but we'll have to see what non-RP items we can come up with in the RP store.

Oh, and forgot to mention this. I was thinking of also getting a Cbox for the main page of the site. This way, any guests that happen along may hear some pinging sounds, and they will wonder what it is. Then when they find the Cbox and see us talking in it, they may join the chat and then ultimately join the site if they have fun.

Hey, that sounds cool, by the way, our site is down to <gasp> 4 active members too. Could we advertise together? Just wondering because I know of your amazing reputation on many different sites and how you are Mods on some so I was wondering if we could please kinda help but be advertised as well (though I am working on advertising as we speak as I have been for a while)

Anyway, I s'ppose if you want to start out fresh it's an okay idea, I trust your judgment on something like this. The whole advertise thing and RP for prizes sounds like a good system too, I just hope we have enough active staff to implement it all. Good luck with the upgrades, it doesn't sound like I'll be able to help much with them anyway.
