I really need a new laptop. My old one is running really slow, constantly crashes, and has a blown speaker. A cue tip is holding the charger in place. I really want a good gaming laptop, but I only have $250 to spend. The only option I see is an Alienware Area 51 laptop on Ebay, but the price keeps going up. There's an Asus 2500 that I can buy for $60, but i figure that when it's that cheap, it sucks. Can anyone recommend anything?

Well, when I wanted to buy myself a new laptop, I decided to give a Mac a try... I don't regret the choice. This is the best computer I've ever had. I don't have to wait long while it boots up. Once it boots up, it is up. With all my Windows PCs, I not only had to wait for it to boot up, but also wait for it to warm up so it would still run slowly for a while until it got chugging. However, I don't know exactly how well Macs run games because... I don't play a lot of PC games to begin with; Only Minecraft (which it works well).
But the Mac cost me over $1,000 dollars, which is out of your price range. The only computers you can get for $250 or less tend to be kinda cheap and lacking in equipment.

Save up. It's all you can really do with that pitiful amount of money. For a gaming laptop you'll be needing at least $700.

What kind of gaming are we talking about? It depends on the games you want to play, ultimately. Like the others said, for $250, you really don't have much to look forward to. I'd sell ya mine, but its not really a gaming machine, lol.
Anyway, you'll want to check stores around you, and definately check Craigslist.org, which will let you deal with people local to your area. If you really want to use eBay, be sure you can 100% trust the seller, laptops aren't cheap, and if you get one for $250 you want to be sure you're getting one that works, and are working with a good seller.
Just some key points when buying any computer, 1) CPU: MOST NEW laptops have Dual Cores, and some are 64 Bit. For the BEST compatibility with all programs, you'd want to stay away from a 64 Bit laptop, unless the programs you run will work with it. 2) RAM: You'll want something good, for gaming 512 MB to 1 GB might not cut it, you'll want something 2 GB and above, as always, the more the better. 3) You want a large harddrive, look for something at least 250 GB or more, again, the bigger, the better. And 4) Macs are really great machines, but, they don't support a lot of games, most are only for Windows. You CAN use Boot Camp, but you need a copy of Windows, which can be even more expensive. Again, check with the people who make the product to make sure its compatible.

For the BEST compatibility with all programs, you'd want to stay away from a 64 Bit laptop, Bullshit. If it can run on a 32-bit system, it can run on a 64-bit system just as well. Only if you're willing to pay $2000 for a $700 computer. If you've got $2000 to spend, get an excellent PC. The only reason anyone would ever need a Mac is when they need to handle huge files or make apps for anything made by Apple.
