Author's Note: Okay, it's time for me to get this story of mine started. This prologue more focuses on the theme song for this story so that the mood can be set. Other than that, here we go!

Prologue: Imaginary

"I am so...bored," muttered a pale-skinned girl in the darkness, her form illuminated only by the faint light from her computer screen. Her bony fingers moved rapidly over the keyboard almost instinctively as her stern brown eyes watched the ever-changing creen from behind her clear-lensed glasses. Her primary color in her outfit was black and only her hands, head and neck were left uncovered. She was leaning back in her cushioned rolling chair in boredom, her frail form almost unable to be seen in the shadowed night. "At least I'm not back in that hellhole of a state again...living on the streets with my sister is not the easiest thing in the world to do."

"You can only move
as fast as,
Who's in front of you,
And if you assume,
Just like them,
What good will it do,
So find out for yourself
So your ignorance,
Will stop bleeding through.

Glancing at the clock, she gave a slight yelp at the lateness of the hour. "Dad is going to kill me for staying up past midnight again." Qithout a sound did she get up and move her chair underneath the wooden computer desk, tiptoeing quietly through the large living room and thankful of her light weight as she moved carefully across one spot of the floor that would normally creak and give her position away.

"Whew, that was close," she spoke with her soft yet powerful voice as she entered her simple bedroom and closed the door behind her. "I thought I was going to be...'scuse me?"

"Logic forces me
to believe in this,
And I have learned to see,
And I can only say
what I've seen and heard,
And only you can choose,
And every choice you make
will effect you,
Says your own self.

She had turned around to see what appeared to be a transparent spirit that had taken a familiar form to her, causing the girl to drop her jaw in surprise. "What the...Gardevoir?" The feminine beauty among spirits nodded in recognition of its name before the surroundings appeared to change around the two.

All around them, many shimmering stars could be seen, even below them as they floated within the vast nothingness. What had caught the human girl's attention, however, was the comet that passed by them both.

"What was that?!" the human teen girl shouted to herself as it appeared to head at a steady pace toward the Earth, threatening a direct collosion with the blue and green planet. She tried to run after it, but had only gone a few steps before realizing that she couldn't stop a shooting star. Turning her head toward the Gardevoir, her eyes were slightly-narrowed, though not in anger.

"What do you want from me..."

"So many lies swirling,
All around you,
You're suffocating,
The empty shape in you,
Steals your breath,
You're suffocating.

Breathe!!!

Big enough to fill the void
that's inside of you,
It's just a breath away.

Without a word uttered did the empathic Pokémon pread out its arms to either side, opening behind it a swirling vortex of black and gold before passing through it into what was now revealed to be an alternate reality. But all she could see was some sort of forest and nothing else. For some reason, she felt compelled to follow as if she was supposed to walk through the portal. "If this is real, then I hall follow through with my part, but if not then leave me be, dark nightmare."

With this statement did she walk into the portal, leaving behind no trace of her mind and her phyical form, which disappeared into thin air without a trace.

"So many lies swirling,

The girl had no idea what kind of adventure she had just walked into...

After quickly reading through this? I'd give it a 8/10.

After actually spending time reading this, I'd bump it up to a 9/10. Great job! Hope to see more of your work.

Breathe Today
Chapter 1: A Slap of Reality

Her soul...it shines bright...

Yes, it shines with the light of experience...

Could she be...?

Yes, she is the one...

The one who will rescue us all...

Rescue us from the Millenium Star...

Black darkness was all that could be seen, that she could be aware of, yet she felt what she percieved to be a breeze. She felt paralyzed, as if she wasn't allowed to move just yet. She also felt tired and wanted deperately to fall asleep, but something nudged at her from within her mind, trying to keep her just faintly aware of her surroundings.

She felt restricted somehow, like she was no longer in a form that she was familiar with, a human form. But if this was the case, then what form was she in?

"Hey, hey, come on! Wake up! Please, get up!"

And where is that voice coming from?

A pair of bluish-black eyes of a beady nature opened themelves to the world around them, which was filled with trees and plants of all sorts. Facing the sky, she realized that she was lying on her back, so she litterally hopped up onto her feet with little effort.

"You're finally awake! Great!" she heard exclaimed with her ears, which felt out of place, considering they felt longer and pointier than she was used to before turning toward a primarily-blue creature that reminded her of some sort of landfish with limbs. Its cheeks were orange and three points each came out of the cheeks.

"Wh-where am I?" she mused as she looked around the forest, which was completely unfamiliar to the one she normally travelled through behind her small home. It was daytime and the sun shone brightly upon the two, almost suggesting a future that was predestined to be.

"I've never seen a Pikachu asleep on the ground like that. Normally, I'd see you up in the trees or someplace high up," commented the blue pseudo-fish, which earned a startled look from her.

"Did you just say...Pikachu?" After the question left her mouth, she started getting a good look at her entire self. Yellow fur and a lot of it, mouse-like appearance and a lightning-shaped tail with a brown base near her spine.

What the...

"But I'm human! This can't be! What's happened to me?!" She got a wierd look from the black beady eyes of her newfound company, who appeared to believe that she had gone insane.

"You...are weird, you know that?"

The yellow Pikachu would have given a smart-assed response to that if it weren't for the intervention of the cries that echoed through the woods.

"Somebody! Please, help me!"

"Say what?" the Pikachu blurted as she turned toward the source of the shouts before the odd creature jumped in front of her, trying to identify the voice.

"That sounded like..."

It was them that what looked like a big butterfly with black and white wings flew toward the pair, desperation soaked into her face.

"Please, you must help me! My Caterpie fell into a cavern! A huge fissure opened in the ground, and my Caterpie fell in! He's too young to crawl out by himself! When I went to get my baby, Pokémon suddenly attacked me!" The blue false-fish jumped back in surprise as the Pikachu appeared to be trying to register what was going on. After getting a dark glare from the land fish, she calmed herself slightly before responding.

"Butterfree, you were attacked by other Pokémon?" The large butterfly, Butterfree, nodded its purple head in desperation.

"Yes, Mudkip, they must have lost control of themselves due to the fissure! I cannot fend off those wild Pokémon on my own. If I was, I would have had by poor Caterpie back!" Floating in a state of panic, the blue fish on legs, Mudkip, turned toward the Pikachu with concern.

"Listen, I know we've only just met, but it would take a team effort to rescue Caterpie from the Tiny Woods, if there's been a fissure. So, will you help me?" With pleading eyes did the Mudkip look over the Pikachu, who appeared to have a headache from the overload of information she was getting.

Caterpie, Butterfree, Mudkip, Pikachu, Pokémon...what is everyone talking about? Why does everyone look so...strange?!

"I'll help, but you folks are going to have to explain to me all that's going on..." Without a verbal reply, the Mudkip nodded before running off toward the interior of the Tiny Woods, leaving the Pikachu behind. Realizing what happened a second later, she noticed that the blue creature was gone before running after it herself on all four of her paws.

"Hey, wait up!" she cried out, her electric tail trailing behind her as she hauled it toward the only lifeline she had at this point. She had no idea what the heck was going on, nor did she know what has happened to her, but she intended to find out.
