I decided I'd switch out my extra and weaker electric Pokémon for another one. I hatched myself a Riolu egg and so I'm now training him to be part of my team. I'm going into battle with the Elite Four with him and he's at level 26 right now- still got about another 20 levels before he is up to snuff with the rest of my team.
Why am I doing this? Easy to answer. I'm a real trainer. I'm going to face the Elite Four with Pokémon I have collected now and use the ones that I have picked to be my favorites. Surprisingly, none of the guys in my team are legendaries. I just come to love my current team and it's well balanced. I'm going to train them to at the very least level 55 before chalanging the Elite Four. (I wish there were some good fly type Pokémon in these versions though, because the ones I've seen weren't too impressive. I have to get around by foot most of the time)

I've got 2 traded Pokémon in my team, but they aren't level 100s or anything. One was a Ponyta (level 16) and the other was a Cranidos (level 20). I trained them up to the levels they're at now, so I'm still doing it the good ol'fashioned way. I'm not going to use a legendary either. I want to do it the right way.
...oh, right, this topic was mainly about Riolu. He's cute. =)

I actually got the Riolu available in the game a small while ago.
I, too, decided to have him on my team, and he is currently at level 26 I believe. It's hard to train someone new after you have defeated all of the gym leaders and trainers that give good EXP anyway.

You should evolve your Riolu before it gets pretty high though. He doesn't learn much, but Lucario learns a BUNCH. It evolves through friendship. For his moves, check Serebii.

I see you raise your team very evenly there, Bulby. Level 30 across the board.
I haven't been able to raise my team at all today - I've been sick, mostly trying to sleep...

Yeah, my Pokémon are always one level within each other. Sometimes I can even pull off all of them being the same level for a while.
